When was the last time you went to RVA's First Friday? If you haven’t been in a while, I invite you to come downtown and come see me and my new painting series at Black Iris Social Club between 6p and 9p.

AT FIRST FRIDAYS
The paintings in this collection beg the question we refuse to answer: “Why do we insist on creating a world that kills everything, including eventually us?”
While the above question is sobering, these paintings invite contemplation around how we can look up to people and organizations who are pushing environmental stewardship and wellness forward. One of these organizations is the Maymont Robin's Nature Center (@maymont_rva),
I am excited because I am collaborating with the Nature Center at the opening and who will have a table with some of their animals and nature center news and offerings. I am proud to be donating 10% of the event’s sale proceeds to the The Robins Nature Center | Maymont to help them continue to be an nature-based education and recreational outlet for our local Richmond community.
Can I suggest you make a date of Friday, January 2nd? I suggest dressing warmly, and taking an Uber/Lyft downtown with your partner, child(ren),BFF, and grab a bite at one of my favorite restaurants: Birdies for oysters and champagne; The Lobby Bar at the Quirk Hotel; or Bar Solita across the street. If you don’t go to any other art gallery or exhibit before heading back to the warmth of your home, venture down to Black Iris Social Club for a drink while you experience my exhibition premier of 'ROADKILL'!
I’m excited to talk more with folks in person about how my art might impact greater environmental awareness.

Cabin Fever, 1708's annual art auction, is on Saturday, February 21, 2026 from 7pm to 10pm.
Cabin Fever is another the great way to cure these winter blues, have a date night, AND support 1708 Gallery. Cabin Fever raises funds for their exhibitions and programs and provides crucial resources for their artists to produce and present artworks and programs for you! I am excited to be one of the featured artists in this highly anticipated auction!
This will be my first time having one of my paintings auctioned! Wouldn’t you want to be the one to say you purchased Charlie Westbrook’s first ever auctioned painting? You would essentially be contributing to history!
